Mrs. Hildenbran'ds Report

Dear TGU School Board and community,

TGU Towner Elementary students and staff have been celebrating the last moments of the 2024-

2025 school year with celebrations. The students are enjoying the sunshine and all that comes

along with the warm weather. Below are some of the exciting happenings with both the

students and staff at TGU Towner Elementary:

Student & Staff News:

• TGU Towner kicked off the month of May with their elementary spring concert. The

elementary and high school both had their concerts the same evening. A special thank

you to Mrs. Moen for planning another successful and well-planned concert.

• K-2 & 5th students enjoy the Magic City Discovery Center. The students traveled to the

Magic City Discovery Center on Friday May 2, 2025. The students were able to spend the

morning exploring various aspects of science exhibits. The students enjoyed the park

after for lunch.

• The 5th & 6th Grade students had the opportunity to partake in the annual Water Festival

event in Drake. This annual event partners with Dakota College at Bottineau and Project

WET teaches 5th and 6th graders about water science, conservation, and best

management practices by demonstrating how water interacts with humans and the natural

environment within North Dakota’s watersheds.

• The 3rd & 4th Grade students traveled to the Lewis and Clark Interpretive Center. The

students requested to return after going their last year as 3rd graders. The students

reported they loved it even more the second year!

• Kindergarten visitation took place on April 30, 2025. It was wonderful meeting the

parents of incoming kindergarten students and sharing our school with them. The

students enjoyed being in the school with the other students and learning about what to

expect when coming to kindergarten in the fall.

• The TGU Towner Elementary Awards will be held on Wednesday May 14, 2025. The

Kindergarten Program will be prior to the elementary awards. The students were

acknowledged for all of their academic efforts!

• TGU celebrated Lunch Hero Day for our wonderful kitchen staff. The lunch staff goes

above and beyond for our students. We appreciate you!

• A special thanks to the local businesses for donating Shrine Circus tickets to our

students. The students didn’t go as a school; however, all of our TGU students were able

to receive a ticket for the circus.

• Teacher Appreciation Week was kicked off with a variety of treats. Thank you to the

local businesses for showing appreciation to our teachers. It’s very evident that what

they do is making an impact on our students.

• TGU Towner students and teachers have put in extraordinary efforts throughout this

school year. The structured Titan Time impacted the math scores for our students with a

total of 6,698 skills mastered and proficient in 9,281 math skills K-6. This is such a great

success! The staff is looking forward to seeing the reflection of skills on the assessment

data from the NDA+ testing. The 3-6 students started the school year with 62% students

above or proficient in math and ended the year with 84% of our students proficient in

math.

• The implementation of a new reading curriculum and a new system structure with

interventions has been another success for our students and teachers! Classroom

teachers, Title 1, para educators and myself all worked in teaching reading interventions

to students this year. Our reading growth has been such a celebration of topic! The 3-6

grade students started the school year with 49% of our student at or above proficiency

and ended the year with 62%.

• Overall, we have had such a successful year with the continual work on climate and

culture in our school. The positive environment has truly played one of the roles in the

impact of student growth. It’s been a year of truly collaboration and team building as we

navigated a new curriculum and a new system of creating effective intervention

practices.

Kind regards,

Ms. Nicole Hildenbrand
